First Division 1 Practice.

This month will see me compete in the Division 1 national with my senior team Worksop D.A.A. Obviously to prepare for a match like this practice is key to doing well. However, the event will take place on three canals which makes it extremely hard to come up with a decent team plan. This Sunday I will be making the short journey to the Trent and

Mersey canal or Trent and Misery depending on what you catch. I’m just writing to give you an insight to what sort of preparation is needed to compete at such a high level.

Last weeks practice match saw 159 anglers compete so I knew that this week it would be no different. My main attack for the match will be to fish at 6m and 10m with squat over ground bait. This method is one I’ve grown up doing over the past 4 years and feel pretty confident doing. After doing a bit of ringing round to see how its fishing I sat and made over 30 rigs up and 60 hook lengths up just to be on the safe side.

This year is going to be a big year for me as its my first ever senior national and despite only being 16 I feel I can compete with majority of the anglers. I’ve fished the Trent and Mersey before but only with bloodworm and joker ware the fishing is good, but some canals respond different to squat and pinkie. For all I know it may turn into a big fish match (if I’m lucky). Any way I’ll keep you informed on how the practices are going and I’ve got a funny feeling this weekend I’m guna get a good battering.
