Colin grew up on Merseyside and spent his early years fishing the Leeds-Liverpool Canal around Lydiate and Maghull. Keen to know how it felt to actually catch a fish, he then started travelling to Ireland every spring, enjoying trips to Cavan, Athlone and the other prolific venues.
Following some success at the old hot water outflow stretch of Trawsfynnd lake in Wales, he was invited to fish for Widnes Angling Centre, which he did for two years, before moving South to go to college.
After spells with Old Windsor Angling Club and Milton Keynes AA, in the 90’s he moved back up north to Cheshire, and joined Middlewich Joint Anglers, fishing in the National team in Divisions 4 and then 3. Locally, he renewed his interest in not catching fish by spending several seasons on the Trent and Mersey and Shropshire Union canals, in the Daves of Middlewich Winter League.
Around 2000 he joined Whizzo North West, the East Manchester Team originally known as Van den Eynde Northern Select. The team changed its name to Team Last Cast, and won promotion from National Division 4 up to Division 2. Colin became captain in 2006, and having strengthened the squad with anglers from Manchester, Cheshire and Liverpool, the team won promotion to Division One in 2007.
His team commitments generally revolve around the River Weaver, Cudmore and other North West venues, and he is a regular at the Whiteacres Festivals in Cornwall.
