I have tried many different meat baits and i have found Plumrose meat to be the best. You can get this in any supermarket for under 70p. I would advise not buying meat from bait company's as they tend to be oily + tins of meat from the supermarkets tend to be more solid so they stay on the hook for longer.

Hi Danny...Have'nt heard of pepperami, never mind it being used as a hookbait. ! Can small pieces be used 1/4'' to 1/2'' and then use 14, 16, 18 barbless hooks. ?

plumrose monsoons all other meat. in the right hands meat is unbeatable shallow and on the feeder in the height of summer. 6mm cubes is the optimun size, 4mm peices are too unpredictable because of fat content ie;small amount of fat in a 4mm cube would result in it floating but is unlikely in a 6mm cube.Nick speed is the man to talk to on this method however as he is by far the best angler i've seen using meat.

I fished a match lake on Monday and had four carp to 6lb (and dropped three others) using Sainsburys Pork Luncheon Meat cut into diamonds about 15 x 10 x 10 mm. The whole slice cost me about 30p.
