well i love preston elastics for lighter work in anything between No 4 to No 10 but for carp in the margins i use middy battle machine white No 24!!! and middy specimen yellow for mixed bags and for big carp at 16m i use middy No 20 however i have used garbolino 18 to 20 elastique but it didnt do it for me, as its really hard elastic and isnt very forgiving eg i a carp rockets of and you need to add a pole section then you dont hav very long to do it as the elastic tightens up quickly and makes hook pulls very common.

i like to use black hydro as it usualy lands every carp u hook and it is good if you have a silver fish on because it doesnt go tight

Default elastics

nearly all my top kits are hydro white, grey, black, blue, red.
i also have middys pink hollo.

ive got these in my tops.
x2 black
x2 blue/purle its cross between
x2grey
x1white
x1pink
also have 22 vespe solid for snag fishing.x2
as you can see i have a few tops but i use all of em.
black is a great allrounder laggy and bluey purple one is great for lumps ive had 20 pounders out on this.
pink is great for fishing shallow as is white and grey.
yellow 22 is strong as ox but is very forgiving and stetches forever.i also use it at woodlands when bagging.
i use pulla bungs in conjunction with all my hydros even red because it stretches forever on some venues platforms go into the water so when you need that bit moor beef to stop it going under.

i have always been a fan of hydro and still am but i got told to try some vespe hollow stuff and its the best elastic ive ever used. the yellows is a nice gap filler between the white and grey hydro, and the green is very much like grey hydro. so the hydro range and now these two vespe hollows will be the only carp elastics ill use now.

Big fan of the preston hollo range, used to find them a bit too stretchy but with the pull bung kits on the market these have sorted the problem out. However nothing I think compares to hydro, black being possibly the best elastic around.

Got Hydro (1 x white, 1 x grey & 1 x black), Maver dual core (1 x yellow & 1 x orange 12-20) and solid Vespe. Haven't had any problems with any so far and they have all been in my top kits for a couple of years now. All I do is cut the top couple of inches of each every now n then and let a loop off teh winder bung.

Interested to try the hollow Vespe stuff now..... just need to buy another top kit for it!

Future 18 solid, Garbolino 14/16 latex, Drennan pink/yellow/green hollows, Grey Hydro, Sensas 6 latex, Middy Hi-viz green up to yellow. All seem to have their uses at some point but don't tend to live on a particular venue. Out of them all the Drennan yellow hollow stays in permanently though.

seem to have gone full circle with my elastics, started off years ago using no8 Preston Slip for almost everything, used loads of others since, these days it's all hollows & latex, but I've just started getting into this doubled solid setup & fave at the moment is Preston Slip no8 (but doubled up)
so back to where I started really (almost!)
