A good quality light and balanced pole is better for your back than a soggy heavy lump of cheap chinese carbon. Not sure a £700 seatbox is any better for your back than a £300 one so long as you get it set to the right height to the footplate. Its only a squre foot of seat to work with after all theres no lumber support, back rest reclining vibrating back rest etc is there. It is what it is basically a tackle box with a seat and none are good for a bad back.

Me being young (A Teenager) I sort of instantly have to go for the cheaper options. Im not sure what my mum would say if i said i wanted a £700 chair for my birthday! I use a camping chair for my fishing. It doesn't have anything fancy like adjustable legs or anything like that. But mines better than any £700 chair becuase mine has two cup holders

Surely you can only fish well if you feel well? buying the best pole around at a ridiculous price is ok if you have the money to spend and you want to convince yourself that the best pole gets the best results however, if you cant get comfy and withstand the measures of fishing then you cant fully concentrate on the job in hand, which we all know is catching fish.

These so called mis-matched anglers may have bought what they have because it suited their budget at the time. Most working class anglers have built up their tackle over a number of years running alongside things like buying a house/car, raising kids/putting them through uni etc.
There is no stereotypical routine mapped out as far as I know as to which way you must buy your gear.
Don't worry about it, concentrate on your float!

your all right i bought(well my dad did) the tournameny x and i got preston on box but theres a guy in our club and he's got a 8 mtr margin pole with one of the shakespeare plastic seats yet he still fishes as well as a lot of other in the club, i think its all about the confidence but people in our club have got great poles but never win anything because they dont have confidence in what they are doing or there tackle
