Default Floating Baits

Ban these in all matches in my opinion. Not only do they take the skill out of fishing, but also often mess up the pegs of anglers who are trying to fish properly with hoardes of floaters coming across the surface into the swim.

If you look, there arent many serious match venues in the country that still allow the baits, and rightly so.

Rant Over!

Thumbs up

Totally agree' it should be banned, no real skill involved, Ive been beaten a few times by anglers fishing this method especially when they've drawn pegs with a favorable wind blowing into it.

The one i hate most is the warburton method, 18 inch of line and a loaf, i don't fish matches on venues that allow this, but unfortunately my club still books matches on places that allow it as some of the guys love to fish like this.

By the way, well done at kivo sunday'' i had a walk round for the weigh in, and that was a close one LOL.

Duz.

Cheers Duzabit, there were plenty of fish in that corner!

Normally I am not one for bans or restrictions and have no problem with methods such as the floating pole, and I don't really believe in limiting anglers options more than necessary, but tbhis one method that wants banning, or at very least the feeding of floating baits wants banning, as it always ends up in other peoples swims, imagine if I were to stand up mid match and fire pouches of pellets into a neighbours swim! Whats the difference between that and floaters getting carried by the wind.

Totally agree floating baits should not figure in match fishing.

Definateley agree!!!! its a bit of fun to catch some of the top when pleasuring, but floating baits should no way be allowed an matches! at the end of the day, you cant go and throw a load of groundbait into someone else's peg, but you could fire a pile of mixers out so they drift down, which is just as bad!!!

Agree, floating baits should be banned in matches. Our club ban feeding or using floating baits for the reasons mentioned on the previous posts. We also ban the floating pole and balling in of groundbait.
I'm not one for bans for the sake of bans but these are pretty sensible ones to me, I can never get my head around banning cat meat but allowing luncheon meat tho', whats that all about?!

However there is a lot of skill involved in fishing floating bait on rod n line, more than a lot of people realise.

Do what i do dont fish venues that allow floating baits to be used in matches. The owners of the lakes will be trying to appease the clueless noddy regulars, leave em to it. Battle of the Banjo brigade

i know neil at lindholme allows them in summer as in his words 'when u lot p*** off in summer doing different things i can still rely on the bread men!!!!' fair comment on his part, but id love to see them banned. nothing worse than fishing a really tidy match only to be beaten by a floater boy with a pole support and no float!!!!

Yeah a lot have banned floating baits & personally I would ban the floating pole as well!....it's a dreadfully unskillful method used regularily by idle unsophisticated anglers!
I have done it on the odd occasation when forced to do so but I hate it!.....I once had 83 lbs out on it one day at Birkin to come second & didn't enjoy my days fishing one bit!

To get 80 odd pound out on any day & basically not enjoy it just summed the method up for me!......dreadful!

I would agree definatly ban them in matches but i dont believe it is an unskilled way of fishing people such as matt hayes and john wilson have all used floaters in the past and they are certainly not unskilled.
