Unhappy Need Help just started match fishing

Hi I have just started out on the match scene, seem to be feeding wrong either to much or not enough, also my rigs on the pole should they be dead depth or fishing over depth?
Any tips on pole match fishing would be gladly recived, on when to feed, what to feed with what i.e hookbait. Types of float to use who many swims to use. I now this may sound silly but any more info on match fishing would be recived with thanks, I usually fish on com"als thanks tony

Default Help needed

Tony,

Welcome back to Match Fishing.

Your question is a little bit open ended so could you tell me/us

1. What sort of commercial lake/snake. If you name them someone on here will probably know them.

2. What sort of fish you fish for big/little carp

3. Baits you are using and what sort of weights are winning the matches you fish.

Give us a bit more info and we can possibly point you in the right direction.

What I would say initially is that simple is best.

Tony, I have recently returned to fishing after a really long gap away and hope to get into match fishing again soon and like you I need help of the type you asking for.

Over the last few months I have been an avid reader of the Fishing Blogs on this site and the wealth of information these guys post is enormous. From these posts I have picked up many tips on how-to's including tackle, rigs, floats and patterns, feeding styles, feed, baits, etc etc

I am sure if you give these a good read you will pick up some great tips, and hopefully you will get direct replies on particular items of interest.

As MarkM says if you can give a litle more info on your specific requirements, locations etc I feel sure will get the support you want.

Best of luck in your match fishing

as said before, welcome back to the match scene... i live in sheffield and know most ponds or know people that do know them so if you want to name a few or PM me i will try and find out info for you pal. this greatest tip with feeding is start of little and often you can always add more but you can never take out!!!! how true that is... rig wise depends on stamp of fish but as a rough guide 0.14mm line size 16 hook floats i prefere the kc chimp and garbolino's DC 6 and 11 in the smallest size i can get away with bait wise pellets, GOT BAITS is all i use they have an extensive range to cover all your needs.. anymore info just ask the lads on here more than willing to help...
Brett.

the question is a bit general I agree, but if most of the venues are mixed fisheries the safest tactics /bait I would opt for when almost fishing blind is chopped worm & caster fished at dead depth...or a few inches over in a tow. It's a bait which catches every fish really, & could bring you some decent results overall.
To cut costs with worms being relatively expensive, I would sort out a nice patch of mown grass such as a playing field & collect some nice juicy lobbies for yourself. This shouldn't be too much of a hassle considering the wet weather we have been getting almost constantly for ages....just go out on a wet & rainy night with the torch & they will be lying there for you...but you gotta be quick!

I would also take advantage of all the info on the web about a certain place you are due to go on, there is plenty of help here if you ask...I know I do!

Best of luck m8

Default new to match fishing

Hi Tony ,
you dont mention whether your fishing club events or opens, either way , there is usually a venue expert who will gladly divulge info about their methods.
