A few years ago when fishing on Gwinnier as part of a festival at W/As. I drew next to a top commercial match angler and international angler who will be kept nameless. At the start of the match i could see that this angler in question was fishing with the tip of is pole almost touching the water. Less than 1 inch from the water! As with the norm at the time for feeding on that water. He was pinging 2 or 3 pellets at his float every few minutes and lifting and dropping his rig. Every time he dropped his rig the pole tip hit the water. Every time he fed with his catty. His pole would splash on the water. The other thing i could see on a regular basis was that this angler had a case of the shakes. His pole was regularly tapping the water. Not the normal tapping that i see often on waters where tapping is allowed. However, he was in my opinion tapping the water on a very regular basis. I believe he was attempting to get an advantage with this or this international angler had great difficulty in holding his pole as you would expect of a high quality angler. I should have made a phone call to the tackle shop and made a complaint. However, it would have been very difficult to prove that he was tapping in an attempt to gain an advantage outside the rules.
Interestingly, the same angler also fed a liquid type soup down the margins which he fed from a cup which he held in his hand. It made a massive noise when ever he fed in that way. I know that feeding water is banned with a pole cup or water pistol at W/As. However, im unsure if a cup held in the hand to help feed a very watery type of soup down the margins is banned or not. The soup created a red color slick in the water for quite some time after he fed each time. It did suggest to me that he was very interested in making lots of noise and did not want to put much feed in to the margin. I did. I filled my margin in, big time and caught some very big lumps in the last 20 minutes to beat him. So no harm done that time. However, i think he was cheating but would have been very difficult to prove.
