Fisheries shouldn;t create rules they cant enforce, all it does is create animosity amongst anglers.

Tapping can be enforced, if it's tapping. It's anglers thinking they are getting around it by 'accidentally' hitting the water as I have described.

Whos gunna enforce it? Bait bans can be checked, barbed hooks can be looked at, pole limits easy to see, tapping the water maybe easier to find shergar. Maybe match organiser stares at lake through binoculars all match from the bushes thinks hes spotted a blokes pole occasionally tappin the water shoots round to ban him only to find hes not had a bite so is knockin one out through boredom. Umm thats a good idea me thinks

Default Tapping

Well this threads got em going. I personally can't see any problem with tapping. We use it a lot and on it's day its deadly. We started using it a lot at Gold Valley due to the bait limits so we tried to starve them onto the hook. It works brilliantly as I say on its day. When I do it the water is constantly tapped so the odd tap putting a rig in doesn't give the same noise or attraction.

So to the point
Is there a propensity for cheating where its banned ? Probably

Can it be enforced ? Doubt it

Does the odd tap make a big difference ? I doubt it

If someones taking the piss tell em and let everyone on the bank hear ? Thats my usual solution and it works for me. The piss takers soon get the message.

I've seen good match anglers potting down the edge while fishing so are some just thick ? or are they just trying it on ? We have to police ourselves and my view is if you dont say anything at the time then dont moan about it at the end of the match or on the way home. Do it at the time !

I was just going to say similiar Mark - but no point labouring it. Certainly found out though that there are some anglers out there willing to post! LOL....

if you wanted to stop it make a set of rules for YOUR club saying your not allowed water tapping and things like that!

My point is Foxy that these rules are already in force. Anglers are 'accidentally breaking them' by setting their poles on spray bars so the tip is just off the water, any slight movement then causes the tip to tap the water surface.
