Default Suffolk Water Park w/e 29/11/09

Wednesday 25th November Open Match -

There were 14 fishing today on a sunny but another windy day. Max daytime temp 11C, wind SW 20 mph with gusts to 36mph. Lowest night time temp was 8.5 C with the moon Waxing Gibbous, 59% of Full.

Moonstrike showed that fishing should be 5/5 but the results certainly don't reflect that. In fact the carp that normally make up the weights were conspicuously absent!

There were 14 fishing on a sunny but another windy day.

1st Darren Clark, Dynamite Baits, on peg 38 had 5 carp 20lb 1oz but needed 11lb 15oz of silver fish to bring his total up to winning 32lb 0oz. Darren fished the method feeder for most of the match.
2nd Dick Bagley on the Golden Peg 8 started the match like a train and had caught all his fish on a method feeder by the midway point of the match and never had another bite after that. He weighed 30lb 14oz
3rd Darren Sparrow, Viscount Tackle, on peg 9 also had some silver fish, 14lb 4oz of them to be precise to go with his 16lb 4oz of carp for a total of 30lb 8oz. Darren had most of his fish on the pole.
4th Keith Gostling fished the long pole and pellet on peg 36 and had 5 tench, a 4lb bream and some skimmers for a total of 24lb 2oz
5th Les Cook on peg 6 fished the method feeder for a weight of 23lb 14oz
6th John Platten, Lowestoft, fished the pole mainly for a silver fish weight of 19lb 12oz mostly on the caster.

Silver Fish Match - Saturday 28th November

19 fished on another cold and windy day.

Just a short note as I am on my way out. More details tomorrow.

It was very hard today with bites very hard to come by for most anglers.

Towards the end of the match the carp started to show with Bob Fuller managing to hook 9 and getting most out I believe but most people hooked one or two at least.

1st John Platten,* Suffolk County, peg 39 with 12lb 12oz on the pole. In that weight he had a roach that we weighed at 1lb 4oz, 2 or 3 10 - 14 ounce skimmers and some small skimmers, roach and perch.
2nd Darren Clark, Dynamite Baits, on the feeder with 9lb 15oz of skimmers,
3rd Nick Larkin, Nisa Waveney, on one of the his feeders with 9lb 12oz peg 30
4th Keith Gostling, Nisa Waveney on the pole with 8lb 3oz from peg 36
5th = Bob Fuller, Mick Burch and Keith Dorrington all 3 with 6lb 6oz

Sunday 29th November - Open M1

21 intrepid anglers fished on another cold and wet day. The water temp remained at 7.7C and with overnight lows of 4.7 the high daytime of 8.3 at 9am it was quite a strange day. The wind was southerly and about 11mph. It didn't stop the fish feeding in some areas though with one of the highest winning weights for some weeks coming out. It was also noticeable that some of the larger fish around the 6lb range fed today.

1st Aaron Coleman, Suffolk Water Park/Bait-Tech, fished the method feeder and straight lead from peg 28 with polony or mini boilies on the hook had an all carp catch of 16 carp for 77lb 0oz
2nd Simon Elliot, Harleston and District AC, also fished the method from peg 26 with similar baits on the hook had some skimmers in his catch of 62lb 2oz
3rd Taylor Thorpe of Nisa Waveney Juniors fished a very good match from peg 5, especially for a young junior, he had 48lb of carp and 7lb 2oz of silvers including 3 small tench.* Taylor is one to watch for the future.
4th Brian Gooch,* Diawa Angling Direct, on peg 28 fished the method and weighed in 40lb 13oz
5th Darren Clarke, Dynamite Baits, on peg 24 weighed in 5 carp for 33lb 10oz most of which were caught on the pole and some silvers for a total weight of 38lb 5oz
6th Daniel Elliot, Harleston & District AC on peg 8 fished the method and weighed in 26lb 8oz
