Question what are bites like

Hi All
Billy no bites here again.
Still getting back into it and at least catching stuff wether by accident or design. But some guys I hear round the lake I use know what they are catching by the bites they are getting.
How So? Is there a guide that says Roach will do this and bream will do that.
I know that Mirror Carp in my lake just take your bait hook line and float strait into the reed near the bank and just snap the stuff off so they can get on with life.
So How do you tell if you've got something else say a tench or perch or catfish?

Bites to most if not all fish are different... as are same species to different venues so what one carp or tench does in one lake or pond may not do in an other.. if find that perch rudd roach ide tend to be a bite that we all associate with fishing ie your float just goes under sometimes at a slight angle depending on the depth you are fishing and how deep the venue is.. tench seem to have that slow lathargic bite with bream being very similar if you dont get the familier lift bit first(all depending on what methods your using) as for carp normal carp seem to be a positive twitch of the float or a unmissable bury straight down... where as F1's are very finicky only just mouthing the bait or gill feeding so you may seem to get activity in the swim but catch very little..
obviously this is just what i think so peoples opinions will differ and as said before think it will all differ from venue to venue
hope that helps.

Default Thanks for that

Thanks matey.
I know I've missed more than I ever caught and just wondered if there was a way of knowing one from the other.
Luckily I have caught some and as a result I am still at this game after just 4 months back into this game.
Ain't it great!
