Default missed margin bites!!

fishing an evening match last night i missed far more bites down the side than i should have.

it was rougly 3.5 foot deep tight to the bank, i fished a 4x10 carpa 2 to 0.16 silk shock and a 16 911 starting at dead depth tried over depth and 4" off the bottom, i never had a sign off the bottom. fed corn and 6 and 8mm hard pellets. i set a rig up for hair rigged pellets and an identical one for fishing corn hook normally

if i went in on a hair rigged pellet my float sat motionless but as soon as i put the corn rig on id sit 2 minuets without a sign before a positive bite which makes me think they where definate bites and not liners. every time i went on it i hit the first bite then missed the next 5 or 6 before id catch another, every bite was identical no liners no movement for a few minuets before it went under very positivley

I had the same problem last week fishing 14 - 16m down the boards of in the corner. I was fishing meat on a 14 911 although I could actually feel a scrat nagging on the other end several times, but some of them were definitely proper carp bites. Do you think it's because of the mouths of the fish at woodlands? I've noticed a few are bad but not that bad. If this is the case do you think the answer's a smaller hook like they do at drayton?

That would make sense wouldn't it as then you are more likely to hook fish on the inside of the mouth as they will suck it in. I wonder if this would lead to anincreased amount of hook pulls though, with the amount of hook achieving penetration being greatly decreased?

With you saying that the carp wouldn't have pellet but would have corn, I wonder if hair rigged corn would have worked better, i know they use to use this a lot at Hayfield.

I dont think its their mouths as when you hook one proper it never seems to come off at woodlands.

funny tho cos I fished banded 8mm pellet and dropped in at 2m and got a good fish first cast, then inexplicably missed 4 proper guzzunder bites that I couldnt believe it was possible to miss.

as to the answer? maybe the first one you catch was confident and the other fish then got wary hence not taking the bait right

thats exactly what happened to me, its as if the first one unsettles the rest when you catch it, but they arent liners they re definately bites so there must be some way of catching them?
