Unhappy 4 Blanks on the trot, not one fish for almost a month :(

Being a relatively new comer, Ok albeit after a long layoff of 20+ years, I've been fishing six times since I restarted however, I have now blanked the last 4 times on the trot. All four occasions in the same venue, not always the same peg, over the last 3 weeks; mind you it is notoriously known as a bad venue. There in lies my problem maybe? What really gets my goat is that I know guys are catching on the moat and having spoken to them I know I’m using the same baits and similar methods (I float mainly) so I’m a tadge frustrated at present to say the least. What is even worse yesterday afternoon I know there were fish around my peg, you could see them patrolling backwards and forwards, plus after 6pm the smaller silver fish showed their “faces” by coming and feeding on the surface and some even jumping out the water. So knowing the fish were in the swim on each occasion no less makes it worse!
I've plumbed the swim to the right depth(s), tried over depthing it, under depthing it and even bring it right up to near the surface where you could see the fish crusing past (yes I know they don't necessarily feed then but you've gotta try surely!). About the only thin I haven't done is try using spoons etc, maybe I'll try that again next time.

This doesn't mean I'm going to give in I just wanted to vent my frustration!

Any one been in a similar situation and then tried something out the blus that changed the situation?

Would the venue by any chance be Hallcroft with the Moat?

Cool Location, Location, Location

Sorry forgot to mention it's HMS Sultan's Moat, Gosport, Hants. Renown as a nightmare to fish especially for a newbie like me!

Wink I hate to gloat

First let me thank you for contributing to my restarting thread. That one went well.
I used to live on the Rowner Road down by you when I was last fishing all those years ago and must tell you that I only ever caught a couple of eels in that dratted moat! (And I don't much care for them!)
I don't know if you are with the RN&RM CAA But I always used to go to the lake in HMS Dryad to catch anything.
Like I said at the top.. I have been incredibly lucky and I haven't blanked since my return to the fold.
I think my local fishery must be overstocked and they give themselves up for a pellet!
Tight lines mate and don't give up!

Talking Fish in the bag, at last!

Well I broke my 4 week duck, phew. It probably helps if you go somewhere that has fish in it that want to be caught!

Went to Stonehams Lake near Southampton Airport. Caught myself all of 2lb 1oz of fish, about a dozen silver fish. Good thing about that I didn't come last in the match and it broke my duck and I caught my first Perch, Roach and Skimmer (baby bream I believe?). Hence the change in my avatar.

All caught on the float with maggot and castors. Big difference I think was that I changed to a smaller hook as I started with a size 12 with corn trying to catch carp. But after nothing for almost 90 minutes I changed to an 18 with maggots etc and started pulling them in. Well oK it wasn't enough to win the match but I'm no where near that yet for heaven sake. I'm just glad I caught something at last after all those blanks.

Well done Bratlett, keep it up and stay away from the Moat!
