Default Fishing On TV

I don't know about anyone else but I would love to see fishing on the box more, but I reckon the reason that we don't see it is there isnt a good format to present it to the masses.

Has anyone got any suggestions as to how angling could be presented to people to make it interesting?

I would like to see something similar to WWf, where they hype anglers up and make it into a real grudge match, in otherwords make match fishing more competitive and head to head instead of understated as it currently seemed to be. That way, it would be more appealing to the oublic, as they would be watching the charecters as much as the sport.

I'd like to see Alan Scotthorne against Will Raison in the ring. A real Barnsley dorking tussle.

Yeah, that could be interesting! Especially if it was fished over, say, three venues, one of Alan's choice, one of Will's and a neutral venue abroad somewhere. If only we had the money that other sports have!

Want to see them in a ring...just like WWF! Might not need a second or third leg!

Sounds to me 70's throwback just wants to see Al and Will rubbing skin in speedos and knee high boots.

Check out Channel 251 on Sky, Discovery Realtime Extra, as davebell says.

They're showing all the classic programmes 24/7. Most of them are from a few year's ago and have the likes of Matt Hayes, John Wilson and Dean Macey and they do tend to repeat them a lot but there's still loads of good stuff on there - they cover Course, Fly and Sea Angling and I've picked up some good tips.

Definitely worth a look.

There are loads on Disc RT but i think we need a new formula, Something that gets back to basics. Its all well and good seeing Matt Hayes reel in yet another "Klonker" but you never see how its done. I would like to see the whole process from setting up the kit to catching the fish, then i can compare how i do it and perhaps pick up some new tricks. Doing this would also be of benefit to people new to the sport, lets be honest its not the easiest game to just pick up and play. With so many different types/styles of fishing its a bit of a minefield to start with.
