Bagwood Lakes, Woodlands Golf Course, Bradley Feed squatt in groundbait on a long pole line then introducing hemp little and often over the top, with maggot or caster the best hook bait. Another method that has been producing is groundbait or maggot feeder. Fish very positive with a groundbait mix of Sensas River, Lake and Epicene. Tel: 01179 508723.
Bristol Docks There are plenty of bonus fish to be caught here, with bream to 5lb and carp to 8lb. Paul Issacs is the form angler, and hasn’t failed to catch less then double-figures in the last three contests. Try fishing with a positive approach by balling groundbait on the long pole line and loose feeding hemp and casters on the short line. If failing to catch on the loose fed line , introduce groundbait as well with the intention to catch a bream late. Brown crumb, Sensas Lake 3000 and Gros Gardons are popular groundbaits on here. Bullock Farm, Kingston Seymour Rushcombe lake is producing a fish a chuck to scaled down terminal tackle while luncheon meat on heavier gear is catching carp to 3lb. Luncheon meat on the bottom is also producing the goods on the Carp lake. All areas are fishing well and in the warmer weather, dog biscuits and bread are taking fish off the top. Lots of bream and skimmers are being caught on the Match lake from pegs 14 to 26. Sweetcorn on the hook is the recommended bait. Chard Reservoir, Chard Roach are showing from all pegs in bags to 25lbs. The pole or whip with maggot and caster or hemp and tares should see you put together a nice net of redfins. Some good carp are being caught and the pick of the recent captures is a fish of 30lb 2oz, which fell to boilie from the dam wall. Dillington Pond, nr Ilminster Fishing well all around with loads of small perch, roach and rudd being caught on 4 metre whips. Odd bream are also showing. After doing a disappearing act, the chub have started showing again and pegs by the pumphouse and the willow are the pegs to head for. Beefed up gear is recommended though as these turbo charged fish have been seeing off several anglers. In the last match Robin Cox landed four but lost five! Groundbait and maggot or caster and hemp have been the top baits. Please remember that pleasure anglers are limited to six at a time. Duchess Lake, Frenchay Negative methods have been working here such as less feed and fish smelling boilies, even though the fish are behaving in this way they still are being caught. If you fancy catching a big weight of silver fish such as bream and big roach duchess is still the place to go. Big weights of bream are being caught fishing the swim feeder with groundbait and maggots or corn. Fishmeal type groundbaits have been best through the feeder. Tel: 01179 508723.

Kennet and Avon Canal, Diggers Stretch, Bath Groundbait, squatts and pinkies across to the far bank have been working well, and catching big skimmers and quality roach in weights to 25lb. There is the odd bonus bream and carp to be caught, the best bait for these fish has been pellets but the tackle has to be stepped right up to be able to land the carp as they range between 5 and 20lb. Landsend Farm, Wedmore Match lake continues to produce steady sport with 60-80lb bags of carp and silvers taken fishing tight over or just down the shelf on potted micro pellet and corn. Silvers will now play a bigger part in catches and can be taken in bags to over 30 pound on the right day, for now the pellet is still the best bait but worm and caster will start to produce in the coming weeks. On Specimen lake the bream are feeding well to both the match and pleasure angler with fish to 7lb taken in catches of over 40lb. These fish can be caught close in as the lake is fairly deep, careful feeding will keep the shoals interested but don’t overlook the perch. Perry St Pond, Perry St Carp and the odd tench are being caught in decent pleasure bags with the top baits being sweetcorn, luncheon meat and soft pellets. As ever the corner pegs are the ones to head for but you will have to get up early! Plenty of bream are being caught from the middle pegs on the pole with maggot, worm or caster hookbaits over groundbait. Trinity Waters, Chilton Trinity Chandos has seen some nice fish banked to Fusion boilies. Wildmarsh lake has seen some good multiple catches with one angler landing 18 doubles in a 48 hour session with the best fish a 23lb grass carp. It’s not just carp here either and bailiff Sue says the bream fishing is the best it has ever been. There are plenty of roach and skimmers to be had and the chub and barbel are now coming out at over 2lb. Hawthorn lake is seeing some nice mixed bags of crucians, roach, skimmers and tench to caster, maggot, paste or pellet. The partially opened Lodge Lake (soon to be joined with Hawthorn) has got off to a good start with lots of small carp, roach and tench being caught by pleasure anglers. There are only six pegs available on Lodge at the moment. Night fishing is available on Chandos and Wildmarsh by appointment. Day tickets are available on site, see venue for rules. Viaduct Fishery, Somerton Slow your feed down when you visit Viaduct, in the colder weather . In summer, it’s possible to feed 6-8 pints of coarse pellet in a session to bag up on weights in excess of 150lb. Those weights are still possible - but anglers need to be a more discerning. West Sedgemoor Drain, Stathe Odd bream and tench are being caught to chopped worm and caster fished across in match bags to double figures. Nets of roach, rudd and small skimmers to 4 kilos are being caught fishing maggot or caster over groundbait. Look for pegs with plenty of cover.
