Barlow Trout and Coarse Fishery

trout1.jpgBarlow Trout and Coarse Fishery is comprised of 4 coarse lakes, 4 trout lakes and a fresh water brook as well as a camping site and holiday cottages. The fishery is only 4 miles away from chesterfield and 10 miles away from sheffield town centre and is open all year round from dawn to dusk.

The 4 trout lakes are stocked with both rainbow and brown trout and sizes start at around 1 1/2 to 2lb and can go well into double figures. In the fresh water brook there are wild brown trout, however this is NOT available to fish between 30th sept and 1st apr.

The 4 coarse lakes are well stocked with a variety of species including some large carp. The coarse lakes also have easy access for disabled anglers.

There are toilet facilities available onsite as well as a log cabin which serves full english breakfasts at peak times as well as snacks and drinks.

Fly fishing day tickets cost from £10.00 per day and a day on the coarse lakes costs £5.00 . (tickets available bankside via bailiff). Coarse and fly tuition can be arranged and tackle hire for both coarse and fly is also available.

Species: Rainbow and brown Trout, Carp and all the coarse fish varieties you would expect to find in a high quality water.
Bait: recommended baits for the coarse lakes include sweetcorn, luncheon meat, white/pink maggots and in summer floating bread crust.
