The new Trabucco Genius XPS M1 Competition seat box is Trabucco’s top of the range seat box. The box is made of aluminium and fibre glass and is Trabucco’s answer to the popular modular system.
I received mine about two months ago after having a Milo M800 for about 6 years. That box never let me down but over time had been used and abused. I am hoping that my new XPS M1 stands up to the test over the next few years. My first impressions are good and after getting everything in the right place, which to matchmen is essential, I have started to like it more and more and I like its robust feel. It doesn’t move an inch with me standing up and moving around on it. Being around 17 stone the box needs to be sturdy with a lump like me on it.
So let’s have a look around the box and see what the box has to offer. Firstly the trolley system is one I must admit when I first saw I thought was a bit over the top. Big handle, huge wheels it looked like an articulated lorry. But in the time I have had it I am totally sold on the trolley system. It’s easy to set up. Slip the handle on, slide the wheels into the mountings, secure them with easy to use screws and away you go. The makers say you can use the handle as a spray bar which would be fine up to 6-7 metres but beyond I think you need a proper spray bar which Trabucco do sell.
The basic system is similar to the Rive seatboxes with a secured seat and a slide in modular system under the seat. This enables you to take to the bank what you need in the various modules that are available.
The leg system is excellent also with the front four legs being telescopic and all you have to do is push down the button on the leg once and then the telescopic leg will come out as far as you need without retracting when you sit on it. It just makes it easier to level the box and with three spirit levels on the rear and two sides of the box getting you box level is an easy operation. I know some of you are thinking spirit levels are a bit too much but it does make a massive difference to your back take my word for it. I’d much rather have a couple of ‘noncy’ looking spirit levels than a bad back any day.
The last thing I should mention is the seat which is a gel seat and I have found this to be very comfortable. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t sit on it and watch T.V. like the Garbolino advert, but it’s a very comfortable seat.
All in all I think the box has plenty to offer a market that is ultra competitive and at a retail price of 449.99 I think it will soon be appearing on the bank in numbers.
