I was busy on Wednesday and couldn’t make the White Acres mid week match, by Sunday I was chomping at
Mosella Magic Bread
I never thought I would be able to write about bread being a new bait but Mosella have allowed me to do so! Magic bread is the name of this new wonder bait and it comes in three flavours, strawberry, vanilla and natural.
The bread is 100% natural product but it has been completely dried following baking and is supplied in a 50gram loaf. Its appearance is similar to that of a florist’s block that they use to display flowers. The bread needs to be cut into slices in its dry form by using a cheese cutting action, I use 0.20 line to do this and in effect saw through the bread. If you use a knife you are in danger of breaking the bread!
Once you have cut the desired thickness place the dry bread into a bait container with water and the bread reinvents itself into usable bait! It can then be punched or cut into whatever shape you want. The crust is buoyant so this can be used as floating bait as well. One of its great attributes is that once hooked the bread can be rolled into a ball which makes it more aerodynamic for casting as soon as it hits the water it literally springs back into flake!
The beauty of the bread is that it stays on the hook however you hook it. It is perfect for hair rigging or hooking normally. The bait will be great for chub and carp fishing and I cannot wait until the spring to give it a go for those canny Mullet!

Well I picked up a block of this stuff a couple of weeks ago, it sat in the bag untill today when i was trout fishing and decided for a laugh more than anything else to try it out.
Grabbed a 1.5tc mullet rod pre loaded waggler and banged it out in a resiviour, float landed cocked and buggered off.
Landed cracking rainbow, cast again float landed settled and buggered off, this kept on happening.
Bagged up 8 trout in 20 minutes in the end.
Went to local carp fishery on way home and popped in for a chuck nothing on the surface so on with a dob of heavy metal to get it down 9ft deep bang fish on again cracking 16lb mirror took a fancy immense fun on my mullet gear i can tell you.
Funny thing is that all the trout took the bread very very deep without thinking.
Off to try this out on the mullet tomorow if i get a chance.
