Cralusso Floats

I first received some Cralusso pole floats in June 2007 and was impressed with them from the start. The floats looked like that they would suit my style of fishing both for carp and silver fishing on the bagging waters in Cornwall. I have been using them now for 10 months and have not been disappointed.

The Capri float is both strong and durable, they are built to last

It is also been long enough to give a full appraisal.

There are three models in the Cralusso range the Golf, Capri and Spirit. All three models are ‘in line’ which makes them incredibly strong and versatile. If you prefer the line to run outside of the float body small wire eyes are available for you to attach to the stem of the float. The floats are so adaptable they can be used for several disciplines including flowing water. I am sad to say that I have not tried them rivers as these days its commercials all the way for me. The simple fact is there are no matches on rivers in Cornwall!

The Golf

Available in sizes 1 - 1.5 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 -6 -8 -10 - 12 grams
This float takes its name from the dimpled golf ball type indentations on the floats body. The dimples help to reduce the water tension affects which means it helps the angler to combat tow. This float is an ideal float for use as a body up float for use on rivers. Like all the Cralusso range, the floats can be adapted for various uses and by simply turning the body around it becomes an ideal float for use in still waters where depth and tow are an issue. This float is now my number one choice for long pole work on places such as Porth reservoir. When the water is towing, I find that I have been able to use a lighter float to achieve good presentation than those pegged around me. The ability to change not only the colour but the size of the pole bristle instantly is also a huge advantage, meaning you can cope quickly with the differing light situation which is a real problem on large expanses of water. The float is available with glass fibre or carbon stems.

Cralusso Spirit Floats

The Spirit

Available in sizes 0.5 - 0.75 - 1 - 1.5 -2 – 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 grams
A universal shaped float which again can be put to use on rivers or lakes. This to me is the ideal float for carp when big weights are on the cards. The composition of the float makes it virtually indestructible they are incredibly hard wearing and consequently long lasting. Again the ability to change bristle size and colour are an important issue. The float is available with fibre glass or carbon stems.

Available in sizes 0.2 – 0.3 -0.5 - 0.75 - 1 - 1.5 -2 – 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 grams
This has become my all round favourite float for the majority of my stillwater work. The body shape is of the traditional tear drop which provides for more sensitive presentation. But still retains its incredible strength and longevity. I use these for the majority of fishing because the float is so versatile. I have found that they are perfect for fishing for bream in the deep waters of White Acres match lake and Gwinear in sizes 0.5 – 1 gram. The floats stand up well to the rigours of use and I can honestly say that I have yet to have a damaged float in any of these ranges. By purchasing a DIY kit or Bristle pack the floats can be adapted for use as paste float.

DIY packs are available, so you can adapt your floats to suit your demands.

New to this range is the 0.2 and 0.3 gram Capri these are so new they actually do not go sale in the UK until 14th April 2008. I am really looking forward to getting my hands on these floats are going to be brilliant for up in the water or edge fishing, no more smashed up floats!

Ever had the problem when your float is ‘towing through all wrong’ whatever you do with back shots etc does not work? I have. I one solution when using these in line floats is to push the body down to the bottom of the stem and fish the float waggler style the difference in presentation is incredible. Cralusso actually sell a float attachment to make this easier.

Everything in the range of pole floats is interchangeable couple this with the DIY pack and the bristle pack and the float becomes as unique as your imagination.

All the floats retail at 1.99 the DIY pack is 1.75 and the bristle pack is 2.75. Pole float eyes 1.50
In my opinion these floats are another fantastic product coming from the Cralusso stable. The floats maybe a few pennies more expensive than some of its competitors but, when you do not constantly having to renew floats it makes them a damn site cheaper! Always read your blog Stewart, and you often refer to the Capri for fishing short at Morgan Porth…..

Got a Match there in the first week of June, which float and how do you fish it short ?

I have been very interested in this float that you have obviously a lot of confidence in..

    Let me know please…

    Thanks

    Hi Lee,
For Mawgan Porth you can use the Capri straight out of the packet but I doctor mine slightly, it is very easy to do. I cut the bristle back about 3/8ths and cut the stem a little as well. I use heavy main line 0.20 as this helps stops tangles. Shotting is simply 3 number 8’s (or whatever the .2 gram float now takes) directly above the 6′ hooklengh. Another dodge that I use is to tie a knot directly above the shot! This stops the shot moving up the line when bagging - it saves precious time.
