Stainforth and Keadby Canal.
Its been a great 2 weeks in the fishing world for me, not just fishing wise but as an whole. Its started well last Saturday when I fished the third match in the Leeds Juniors winter league which was on the stainy. We tackled pegs 259 to 276 at Dunstons. Before the match everybody was telling me that I needed to draw on pegs 265 to 270 on the flats. I was first to draw and I unfortunately draw just off on peg 273. I’ve fished this peg before at this time of year and only managed 5lb every time so I was too confident. My tactics stayed the same though and I attacked it from the start feeding 6 large balls of ground bait at 6m and 13m with 500ml of joker. I had the worst 45 minuets ever only managing 6 roach so I thought the fish just weren’t there as everyone on the flats were bagging. Any way the weather got a bit better and the fish started to feed and I finally got into a rhythm. At the final whistle I ended up with 151 fish for a decent weight of 10lb 3oz which won my section and 2nd in match. The top weight came from venue expert Ben Taylor who managed an awesome 12lb 13oz of roach.
Presentation Night.
This Saturday saw the annual Worksop juniors presentation night which went off with a bang. The night was all in good spirit with most junior anglers walking away with a prize of some sort. The main trophies up for grabs were; the managers trophy, members trophy, biggest fish and the aggregate trophy. There were also 5 match winners trophies. The managers trophy went to Robbie Moore for his constant good attitude and his improvement in his angling ability. Members trophy went to squad clown Joel Potts, biggest fish was Daniel Richardson with a carp of 6lb 2oz and last but not least Ben Frost won the aggregate trophy winning on weight (only by 6oz). Afterwards the party really started with DJ Nutty playing classic tunes which got 90% of people dancing. Overall, it was a great night which toped off a good solid season for the juniors.
