Higham Lane

A few weeks ago my partner and I woke up Sunday morning thinking about going fishing, the weather wasn’t the best so we went to my partner’s mother for Sunday lunch (yummy). We then came back to my parent’s house sorting out all our fishing equipment.

We were not sure on weather but it seemed to be getting brighter and warmer. 3pm came and it was lovely so we decided to pack all of our kit into the car getting excited by the minute.

We arrived at Higham Lane, unloaded the car and chose our pegs. You can never really choose a bad peg at Higham, but this time my boyfriend picked a very lucky spot. While I was still setting up he had only been in the water for 5 minutes had a fish fighting on the end of his line. We were both using double sweet corn on a hair rig, with a half ounce bomb. After 10 minutes we finally saw the back of the fish fighting for dear life. We had some trouble with the net pole and the net came off just as we were trying to bring in the carp. Eventually we managed to get it on the bank and weighed it, it weighed at 20lb 8oz! As the day went on the sun was beaming down, it felt just like a summers day! We carried on catching a further 4 - 5 carp each all ranging from 4-6lbs. It started to get dark so we were forced to pack up and go home, we unloaded

My kit..

My equipment involves two rods, I usually use a carp rod and float rod. Unfortunately a few weeks ago I was walking down my garden with my carp rod and broke the tip off which I wasn’t too happy about. Also we went fishing at Lakeside Fisheries when we had the worst wind ever, I remember it getting up to 20mph which isn’t good if you only with a small umbrella. It was very eventful to say the least, my bait ended up the other side of the field and then my luck got worst my umbrella decided to break! So at the moment I’m a carp rod and umbrella down ha but it’s all good. It’s just an excuse to buy more!

Women things..

It can be a little bit intimidating sometimes when people look at you and think; you’re a women and fishing as though it’s not right. I feel different I have set up a fishing website dedicated to all the female anglers out there. My aim really is to find fisheries with facilities that will apply to women such as toilets! I also want to find women’s fishing clothing which is proving very hard. So I have decided to take it into my own hands and hopefully be able to design and sell women’s clothing. I will have to fill you in on that! Tight Lines For Now! Lucy.
