A Bit Of Background

Hi all, I’m new to the site and am here after Tom saw my blog on another site and asked me to write on here! My name is Gavin Goldthorp and I’m a 27 year old match angler from Cambridge, and whilst the majority of my fishing now is small opens on one two lake venue (Westside Farm, nr Cambridge) I have in the past fished matches on a variety of other venues, perhaps the biggest event of those being when I fished the ACA Masters at the Glebe on the Mallory Park complex a few years ago. I have in the past done a fair bit of specimen angling too, mostly for predators (you can’t live near the Fens and not!) and have respectable PB’s of 23lb for pike and 14lb 4oz for zander.

Anyhow, thats enough trumpet blowing! I’ll keep this blog as up to date as I can, starting with this weekends open ahead of the weather delayed start of the individual winter league at the venue. Here’s hopeing I can have a more consistant year than all the previous leagues I’ve fished as I always seem to draw one or two dire pegs and have developed a habit of finishing third overall, heres hoping for a win. I’ll also, given time, put up some of my old blogs on here for anyone who’s interested in reading them!
